Decorations

At the entrance door have a large oval mirror on an easel surrounded by greenery. On the mirror have saying, "Princess, Daughter of a Heavenly King."(in vinyl). As each girl enters the room have a Laurel there to welcome her and her parents. This Laurel should place a tiara on her head. Tell the Young Women the tiara is to remind her that she is a Princess. A daughter of our Heavenly King.

2 oblong tables (buffet tables): a value color table cloths- food will be placed on one table the cake, dessert plates, napkins and forks on the other

Have 7 easels place somewhere else in the room. Each easel should be covered in a value color. On each easel have a picture of one of the 7 dwarfs. (ex. For Knowledge cut a picture of Doc into an oval shape. Glue onto a green poster board. Write Knowledge above picture and Doc below picture. This picture will then sit on an easel covered with a green cloth.

7 round tables- each table has a different value table cloth- a bouquet of flowers-each table could have white plates, knives, napkins and clear plastic goblets.

Handout

Either buy hand held mirrors or make the shape of a hand held mirror out of wood and then glue a piece of mirror onto it. Tie a long bow around the handle using value color ribbon. Maybe put the saying, "Daughter of a Heavenly King" (vinyl). During the year the girls could earn jewels that could be glued to the back of the store bought mirror or maybe on the wood part that frames the mirror.

Invitation(rolled scroll with burnt edges) Decree

By order of his Royal Majesty, the Heavenly King, it is decreed that all Young Women of the -------------- Ward be present.

Therefore, let each Young Woman and her parents come for "New Beginnings 2007"A light supper will be served.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

Skit used to present the 7 Values

Narrator: Long ago, in a far away place, there lived a lovely young princess named Snow White. One day Snow Whites, father, the Heavenly King, asked her to come talk with him. The Heavenly King told Snow White of a great plan that he had already put into place. A place called Earth.

Now Snow White had heard about Earth. Earth was a place that each Prince and Princess received a body. While on earth a princess would be given the opportunity to live and to learn. Earth was a place that everyone wanted to experience. A place that everyone was anxiously awaiting their turn.

Snow White became very excited. She asked if it was her turn to receive a body and experience life on earth. The Heavenly King told Snow White that it was her turn but before she left he wanted her to know that he wasn't sending her alone. He told her that life on earth wasn't always going to be easy. When she received her body she wouldn't remember her life before. She wouldn't remember her father, the Heavenly King. He told Snow White she would have many experiences. These experiences would be both wonderful and challenging. He reminded Snow White that Satan would also be there. Satan tries to destroy everything good. He has a way of tricking people. He tricks people into doing something not right by portraying it as good like a shiny red apple, something anyone would want to partake of. To help Snow White not to be tricked by Satan he would be sending special people into her life. These people would be there to help her to guide her. They would help her to remember who she was. Remind her that she was a daughter of a king.

Snow White soon began her life journey. She was being raised in a wonderful home with parents and friends who loved her. She was being taught the gospel. She attended her church meetings and activities faithfully. Snow White was happy she enjoyed life.

Although Snow White was doing everything good that she had been taught. She began to have doubts. She didn't know who she was. She didn't know why she was here on Earth. As the Heavenly King had promised Snow White soon met one of these special people that had been placed on Earth to help her. She met "Sleepy".

Sleepy: I am Sleepy. I am also known as Faith. The color white represents Faith. Alma 32:21 states Faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.

Sleepy can help remind you to be faithful in praying. At night when you become sleepy you can use this time to talk to your Heavenly Father. He is listening and he will answer you.

Narrator: Snow White always had a smile on her face. She was clearly enjoying life. She loved her family and friends. She tried to help out when she was needed. She was very thankful for all that she had been given. Snow White was the most happiest when she was around "Happy" another special person sent to help guide her. Happy: I am Happy. I am also known as Divine Nature. I represent the color blue.In 2 Peter 1:4-7 states Be partakers of the divine nature....Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

You are happy when you know who you are. We have been blessed with Divine Qualities. Find your divine qualities and use them, develop them.

Narrator: In general Snow White was a happy young women but there was a time that she didn't have good self esteem. She didn't feel good about herself. She didn't think she was pretty. She hated that little mole on her face. To her it was a sign of imperfection. During this time that she was struggling she met a special person named "Bashful".

Bashful: I am Bashful. I am sometimes known as Individual Worth. I represent the color red. In D&C 18:10 It tells us Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God.

You may be a little bashful but know who you are. You are a Daughter of a King. Remember that you are worth something because the Savior gave his life for you.

Narrator: Snow White was like any other typical young woman. She loved to have money. She loved to wear the newest, hottest style of clothes. She loved to have her hair done. She liked to wear jewlry. And she really liked her matching shoes and purses hanging in her closet that went with her different outfits. This is when she met "Doc" another special friend to help her remember what was really important.

Doc: I'm Doc. I'm also known as Knowledge. I represent the color green. In D&C 88:118 we read Seek learning, even by study and also by faith. Having money is a necessity in life. We all want money and having money would make life a little easier at times. Being Doc I had to gain knowledge before I received money. But money isn't everything. When I die my money isn't going with me. Only the knowledge and wisdom we gain here can we take with us.

Narrator: Everyday Snow White had choices to make. Some were as simple as what to eat for breakfast but others were a little harder like choosing good friends. "Grumpy" another special friend was around when she made those harder choices.

Grumpy: I am Grumpy. Sometimes people call me Choice and Accountability. I represent the color orange. In Joshua 24:15 we read Choose you this day whom ye will serve;... but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

We don't always make the right choices and that can make us Grumpy. But that's just part of learning. Remember we are not perfect and we all make mistakes. We need to learn from and remember our mistakes so we can make a better decision next time.

Narrator: As said before Snow White was happy young woman . She was always there when others needed her help. When she was helping the most "Sneezy" could usually be found.

Sneezy: I am Sneezy or Good Works. I represent the color yellow. 3 Nephi 12:16 says Therefore let your light so shine before this people, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.

Just like a Sneeze you can share your good works with everyone you come in contact with.

Narrator: Snow White had many people she considered friends. Not all of her friends believed in the same things that she did. As said before sometimes Snow White could be a little shy. When Snow White needed courage "Dopey" was always there.

Dopey: I'm Dopey other times known as Integrity. I represent the color purple. Job 27:5 says Till I die I will not remove mine integrity form me.

You make think I'm a little dopey but I have the courage to stand up for what I know is right.

Narrator: Just like Snow White we too have challenges and trials. Some are harder than others. We don't always feel pretty. Learning doesn't come easy to some of us. We all have disappointing days because of choices we have made and it's not always easy to stand up for what you know is right. Our Heavenly Father knew life wouldn't always be easy. He knew Satan would be offering us a shiny red apple. To help us resist the temptation of partaking of the apple he sent each of us special people in our lives to help us and to guide us. We have been blessed with parents who love us and want only the best for us. We have Young Women leaders and a Bishop who loves us. They want to be there for us when we need them. We have been given 7 values to live by that will help us choose the right. To help us see that we are being tricked when we are being offered a red shiny apple. By living these values it will help us return to our Heavenly Father. He wants us to return to him. Remember you are a Daughter of a King.

We handed out parts 3 weeks prior to New Beginnings. Each girl was asked to memorize there part. The mutual night before we had a practice run. We kept the tiaras and hand held mirrors a secret.Throughout the year as Personal Progress is complete the girls will receive jewel's to glue onto the back of their mirror.
