Description

When Holly H.'s YW presidency found that they were doing most of the activity planning instead of guiding young women in planning activities themselves, she created this planning guidelines form.

This document is targeted at youth or class presidencies and is intended to make planning activities easier for them.

1 page, 8.5 x 11 inches, color.

Guidelines for planning activities

First of all, remember that the purpose of the Young Women's program is to help each young woman come unto Christ. Keep that in mind while planning any activities.

Open with prayer--everything is easier with our Heavenly Father's help.

Ask these questions:

What do we want to have happen?

What experiences could help us reach our goal?

How do we carry out the plan?

How well did we achieve our goal? (This is regarding the previous month's activities to recognize any problems etc. and to improve on them)

Additional planning is only needed for 2 or 3 weeks since two of the weeks are already planned.

Week 1 Personal Progress

Week 2 Joint Activity w/ YM
These two are interchangeable in weeks
Week 3 Service Project

Week 4 Mutual theme /missionary activities /value night etc.

Week 5 Parent activity

We also need to make sure that the following are happening at each activity:

Opening Prayer
Lesson with scripture/spiritual thought
Activity
Recap on lesson
Closing Prayer

There are many resources for planning activities: online, manuals, family, leaders, etc. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and don’t get overwhelmed. This is supposed to be fun! Trust yourselves, and we know you will do a great job and have a great time.
