Quote: "Seminary graduation was held this evening at the Stevensville Montana Stake Center at 7:00 pm. President Sangster presided and Corinne Griggs of the Lolo Ward conducted. Our own Michael Fischer gave the invocation and Rachel Hudson was the first speaker. We also heard talks by Alex Mitchell, Javanna Jensen, and Stuart Anderson. Makenzie Cather and Zayne Callahan performed a special musical number. President Sangster instructed us to: 1. Put away those things that drag you down and stand on higher ground! 2. Use your time wisely by prioritizing and focusing attention on what matters...

Quote: "We had devotional and then awards for scripture mastery and attendance. Eli and Nick Recht tied for best scores on scripture mastery assessments and Savannah came in third. Savannah, Josh, and Megan received awards for best attendance during the year. We then had a scrumptious breakfast prepared by Sisters Howard, Hudson, Rogers, Heath, Majors, and Hayes. To conclude the full-time missionaries, Elders Carlson and Andersen, shared a spiritual thought about Cain and Abel and the reasons for the rejection of Cain’s offering. We prayed and dismissed. Tomorrow we will do a cleaning...

Quote: "We had a quiz over all 25 scripture mastery passages for the year and then read our final chapter in the Book of Moromon–Moroni 10. Class discussion focused on Moroni’s promise, gifts of the spirit, and how the grace of Jesus Christ can make us perfect, or whole. We concluded by talking about the responsibility we have to Moroni and to the other writers and keepers of the records that have preserved for us the teachings of Jesus Christ and the testimony of His grace. We will one day meet Moroni before the pleasing bar of the Great Jehovah! Tomorrow we will share our...

Quote: "We met in the chapel today for a testimony meeting. Stephen Curdy conducted. We sang The Iron Rod to begin and God Be With You Till We Meet Again to close. Most of the students had an opportunity to share their testimony. I noted several comments that suggest we made progress in achieving the Objective given us by our living prophets: “If I rely on Him, I can do anything.” “I’m getting a feeling that I like the scriptures.” “I see the natural man in me and thank the Lord for His strength.” “If you rely on Him, He will help you. He’...

Quote: "We reviewed and then had a quiz on the following key scripture passages: 2 Nephi 28 :7-9, 2 Nephi 32:3, 2 Nephi 32:8-9, Jacob 2:18-19, and Mosiah 2:17. Students will be quizzed on Monday on 1 Nephi 3:7, 1 Nephi 19:23, 2 Nephi 2:25, 2 Nephi 2:27, and 2 Nephi 9:28-29. We discussed the action plans that grew out of yesterday’s simulations. We can do a better job of really understanding and applying the scriptures in our lives! Did not get to a discussion of infant baptism. Will pick up there on Monday. Students should read Moroni 9! "

Quote: "We concluded our seminary year with a service project. After devotional we talked about King Benjamin’s example of service, we made assignments for the chapel, cultural hall, doors, halls, trash cans, relief society room, etc. The kids were great they jumped right in and went to work. Everything was removed from the seminary cabinets in the Primary room and the meetinghouse looks fantastic. I will follow up with individual students about Suminary (summer seminary) to help students complete previous years courses. Please encourage your children to continue to read their...

Rapidly Approaching the End of the School-Year

Quote: "I sent the following information via email but thought I would include it here as well: We are rapidly approaching the end of the seminary year. Seminary graduation will be held on Sunday, May 23, at 7:00 pm at the Stake Center in Stevensville. This will be a stake youth activity so all students are invited to attend, not just the seniors. I have given each of the students a copy of their seminary transcript this week and have encouraged those with incompletes to turn in the make-up work to earn credit; several are working with me already. The students are familiar with the...

Quote: "I handed out student transcripts so that each student is aware of credit earned during their seminary career. I encouraged them to complete make-up work where necessary for the current and for previous years. We reviewed and then had a quiz on the following key scripture passages: Alma 37:35, Alma 41:10, Helaman 5:12, 3 Nephi 11:29, and 3 Nephi 27:27. Students will be quizzed tomorrow on Mosiah 3:19, Mosiah 4:30, Alma 32:21, Alma 34:32-34, and Alma 37:6-7. We read Moroni 6 and discussed what it means to qualify for baptism, to be “numbered among the people of the church of...

Quote: "Feed the naked! (ask your child for an explanation of that one). We reviewed and then had a quiz on the following key scripture passages: 1 Nephi 3:7, 1 Nephi 19:23, 2 Nephi 2:25, 2 Nephi 2:27, and 2 Nephi 9:28-29. Tomorrow we’ll have our final scripture mastery review and quiz. Prizes will be awarded later in the week for the top scores! We focused our discussion today on two letters written from Mormon to his son Moroni. These letters illustrate some of the challenges that Moroni faced as a spiritual leader of his people. The first letter, Moroni 8, addresses the practice...

Quote: "We reviewed and then had a quiz on the following key scripture passages: Mosiah 3:19, Mosiah 4:30, Alma 32:21, Alma 34:32-34, and Alma 37:6-7. Students will be quizzed tomorrow on 2 Nephi 28 :7-9, 2 Nephi 32:3, 2 Nephi 32:8-9, Jacob 2:18-19, and Mosiah 2:17. We then set up a scenario. Students were organized into groups of 3 representing class/quorum presidencies. I explained to them that a member of their class/quorum has been less-active and somewhat antagonistic when approached about Church activities by peers. They were then given the task as a class/quorum presidency of...
