We can follow Jesus

Jesus taught the gospel to the people around Him during His life on earth, and to the Nephites after His resurrection.

Have someone repeat the third article of faith.

Ask, “What are the first principles and ordinances of the gospel?”

Have a class repeat the fourth article of faith.

Tell everyone to turn to 3 Ne. 27:20–22, then read it together.

Ask, “Can you see the first principles there? Where is ‘Faith in the Lord’ in this scripture?” (When we “come unto him” we believe Him, trust Him, have faith in Him.)

“What will we do if we have faith in Jesus Christ?” (We will do the works which we have seen Him do.)

Divide the children into small groups. Pass out a picture from the life of the Savior to each group (see examples below). Have each group decide how they will tell the story of their picture and also explain how we can follow the Savior’s example today in a way that is related to the picture.

Examples: Jesus in the temple (study the scriptures and learn the doctrine); Jesus’ baptism (can be baptized by immersion by the proper authority); Sermon on the Mount (share the gospel, repent, try to be better); Jesus healing the blind (we can pray, seek blessings from the priesthood, and be concerned for the welfare of others); Good Shepherd (reach out to others, especially those who have lost their way); Prodigal Son (forgive those who wrong us); Good Samaritan (help others, treat each person as our neighbor); the Savior in prayer (pray for ourselves, our families, and others).

Sing “I Want to Live the Gospel” (CS, p. 148).

    Instructions: Glue the image to heavier paper. Cut out the temple on the solid lines, fold on the dotted lines, and glue the tabs to the inside of the walls to form a box. (The temple should be at the front of the box.) Cut out the My Gospel Standards cards, and place them inside the temple box. Game: Choose a gospel standard from the box, read it, and decide what you can do to live the standard. In family home evening, share how living this standard can prepare you to enter the temple someday.

    I made this handout a million years ago for a Primary class on the Restoration of the Gospel. I was teaching CTR 7-8, and the lesson had a picture of a Church building with these parts labelled on it. I made this handout so the kids'd have something to take home. This is made to be held together without glue. The super small tabs fit into slits you cut with an exacto knife in the wide black borders. You can cut off the small tabs and use glue to hold the project together if you prefer.

    I had my activity day girls cut out and color these paper plate lamps. Fold plate in half and cut basic shape. Use staples to secure. Color one oil drop as a flame and staple on.

    Here's a Mother's Day gift idea from one unit. It has the poem: Mom, I know you get discouraged Because I am still very small, And I always leave my Handprints on furniture and walls. So here's a little handprint You won't need to wash away, And it's just the size my hands are On this Mother's Day.     I got a copy of this shirt card and decided to share it. It takes a good bit of folding to make. If you have a small Primary, you can probably help the older kids do it; otherwise, you'll be folding dozens of these bad boys up yourself (not to mention you'll be ensuring you receive that pool house for your Celestial Mansion for your extreme Primary commitment). You can find out how to make these cards at Martha Stewart .com. This one is cute, but I think my father's day tie card is easier, and kids of any age can do it themselves easily during Primary.

I'm no Photoshop pro, but I managed to make this rough outline of President Monson from his photo on the church's webisite.     In September we have to present Sharing times on Missionary work. I have done something similar for FHE. For week one titled Week 1: The scriptures teach that the gospel will be preached in all the world. I thought it might be fun to give some examples of where missionaries serve and tell them we will be following some of them around the world today. 1. Make simple passports out of folded 1/2 sheet paper with a list of the different countries they could possibly serve a mission. 2. Have a treat, activity, and little lesson about the people in the area. (see attached example) You can search the internet and find a lot of fun ideas. 3. Talk about what missionaries might find in that area and the good that they do.
