Integrating Duty to God into Seminary
The new Duty to God booklet includes a section where Young Men are invited to Share what they've learned with a group. This is easily implemented into Seminary through a devotional period.
Here's how it should work. Give the boys the following instructions, which are adapted from the Duty to God booklet in the Spiritual Strength section:
Review the list of the doctrinal topics you studied as a deacon [or teacher] ... Working with your advisor or Young Men's Leader, Choose four or more additional topics you would like to learn about and teach, and write your choices in your Duty to God Book.
For each topic you study, create a simple outline. It could include:
(1) a definition of the topic,
(2) teachings and examples from the scriptures and your own life, and
(3) your thoughts and feelings about why this topic is important.
You can use the scriptures (including the Topical Guide [and Scripture Mastery Scriptures]), True to the Faith, Preach My Gospel, and the words of latter-day prophets to learn about these topics.
Teach your chosen topic to our Seminary class, and report back to your Young Men's leader about your experience.
Here is the list of topics they from which they should choose:
Spiritual Strength - Teachers or Priest Doctrinal Topics:
- The Godhead
- The Plan of Salvation
- The Atonement of Jesus Christ
- Prophets
- The Apostasy and the Restoration of the Gospel

As a teacher, you might also help by contacting the Young Men's president or secretary to let him know when a Young Man has completed a presentation that counts toward Duty to God.
Use the attached document to pass out to your Young Men to make this easy for leaders and teachers.
